8-day e-bike trip from 11 to 18 July 2027
The Via Allier is still an insider tip among French cycle routes. We follow the Allier upstream from its confluence with the Loire near Nevers almost to its source. At first we cycle at a relaxed pace through the wide river meadows of the Bourbonnais, past the ducal town of Moulins and the wine village of Saint-Pourçain to the spa town of Vichy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then the volcanic mountains of the Auvergne come into view. Via Brioude, with the largest Romanesque church in the Auvergne, we ride into the wild Gorges de l'Allier. You travel in comfort by premium coach, and in the evening a 3-course dinner awaits you at the hotel. A France far from the big tourist crowds.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need my own e-bike?
Yes, please bring your e-bike. If you don't have one, we recommend hiring a good bike from a bike shop in Germany beforehand.
How demanding is the trip?
The first stages are flat and relaxed. From Brioude onwards it gets hillier, with longer climbs in the gorges. With an e-bike and a good basic level of fitness, all stages are easy to manage.
Where do I board the coach?
At Munich central bus station (ZOB), in Bruckmühl or in Nuremberg-Fischbach.
