The Castellare die Tonda estate extends over 260 hectares, where twelve former farmhouses, lovingly and artfully renovated in the Tuscan tradition, welcome guests. You will stay in a rural setting in the middle of the Tuscan dream landscape of Chianti, surrounded by vines, olive groves, fruit trees and cypresses. There is plenty of space for rest and relaxation on the extensive grounds. You can take tours on 30 km of cycle paths, hike along the Carfalo River or to the associated lake, hone your swing on the hotel's own driving range or take a riding lesson at the renowned equestrian centre.

    The estate is located in the heart of Tuscany near Montaione in an excellent position between the cities of Pisa, Florence and Siena. This gives you an excellent starting point to the most beautiful corners of Tuscany. Dogs are allowed free of charge on request.

     The resort has a reception, a small supermarket, the restaurant "Il gusto del Castellare", a bistro-cocktail-bar, a spa centre, a horse riding centre and a mini club.

  • The Guest Rooms

    The twelve farmhouses of the family-friendly resort with a total of 100 holiday flats are up to 6 km apart on the extensive grounds and offer plenty of space for a relaxing holiday. They have been lovingly and lavishly renovated, yet each house has retained its own character. Some are situated on a hill with a panoramic view, others in the middle of olive groves or vineyards. They all have a swimming pool, some with a children's pool, sunbeds and parasols and are surrounded by the beautiful Tuscan countryside.

    You stay in classic 2-room flats with a separate bedroom, a well-equipped kitchen with coffee machine, a living area with TV, DVD player and bathroom with shower/WC. WiFi internet included. They also have their own beautiful garden area with garden furniture and pergola.

    The restaurant "Il gusto del Castellare" will spoil you with typical Tuscan delicacies. Breakfast is offered at the buffet, diner served al la carte or at buffet.

    The spa at Castellare di Tonda Resort offers 200 m² of sauna, ice grotto, steam bath, hammam, aromatherapy showers, and a heated Jacuzzi overlooking the Tuscan hills.

    The included wellness programme includes use of the spa area for 1:45 hours, a welcome bag with bathrobe, towels and flip-flops and use of the spa facilities, as well as healthy refreshments in the relaxation room with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

    Various massages and Ayurvedic treatments can be booked on site (for a fee). Access to the wellness area is only permitted from the age of 16.

Cooking like a housewife

Here you can get to know the traditional and family way of Tuscan food culture. Here you will learn the basics of typical cuisine, such as pasta, sauce dishes, bread, pizza, etc. The course takes place in the restaurant kitchen. So that everyone can understand the chef, someone from the staff is always available to translate into Enfglish. Reservations can be made on site.

Il Gusto del Castellare

Typical Tuscan cuisine in the heart of Chianti. The ingredients of the region are complemented by a traditional and tasty cuisine. The products used by our chefs are organic and biodynamic and come from the Montaione area. Appetizers, first courses, main courses and desserts are accompanied by a selected wine list and local beers. We have included on your last night a 3-course menu.
