  • Day 1: Arrival - San José

    After landing with your individually booked flight in San José, Costa Rica meet and greet at the airport. Here you will find be given all information about your trip. Then a private transfer will take you to your first hotel in San José. Hotel Grano de Oro is a unique hotel in the city, offering a refined and pleasant stay, centrally located and close to the "Parque Metropolitano La Sabana".

    Depending on the flight time, the rest of the day is free. If there is time, we recommend a visit to the National Theatre. A guided tour is worth it! Very popular as well are the Jade Museum, the Gold Museum and the National Museum.

    All 3 museums and the National Theatre are located in the city centre and can be easily reached on foot (approx. 5 km total distance).

  • Day 2: San José - Sarapiquí

    Breakfast in the hotel.

    At the agreed time you meet the service staff of the car rental company in the lobby pick up the car: an off-road vehicle with automatic transmission. You will receive a briefing and information about your rental car as well as maps, all important telephone numbers and a local prepaid SIM card with $20 credit. Then you check out and drive to your first destination, the Sarapiquis Rainforest Lodge.

    The comfortable Ecolodge is unique in its kind with exquisite decor: antiques, fresh flowers in the garden and a Hispanic, colonial and indigenous atmosphere.

    We recommend that you drive directly to the lodge. This lodge is located in the Braulio Carillo National Park, which extends over 50,000 hectares. It is one of the largest protected areas of Costa Rica and is located in an area with the steepest topography in the country. It is characterised by high, densely wooded mountains, which are crossed by gorges, rivers and streams. The Braulio Carrillo National Park consists of two sectors open to the public: Quebrada González and Volcán Barva, which offers visitors a varied range of tours. The Ceibo sector is dedicated to protection and research.

  • Day 3: Sarapiquí - Arenal

    Breakfast in the hotel.

    After checking out, drive to your next destination, the Hotel Nayara, Spa & Gardens in Arenal La Fortuna. This luxury resort is located amidst the lush vegetation of Costa Rica's pristine rainforest. We recommend that you drive directly to the resort and explore the area in the afternoon. The National Park Volcano Arenal is the most visited destination in the north and offers several hiking trails. Each tour offers a breathtaking landscape. Past cooled lava flows into a unique animal and plant world: Let yourself be enchanted by the diversity of the local wildlife!

    Stay at the Nayara Resort, Spa & Gardens for 3 nights in a Casita Deluxe room with private whirlpool.

    Approx. 1.5 hours drive for a distance of about 75km.

  • Day 4: Arenal

    Breakfast in the hotel.

    The morning is free and can be planned with optional activities according to your interests. For example guided tours (private or in a group) to the rainforest or the volcano Arenal, are offered by local and professional guides. Or would you like to have a break and relax? Then the luxury resort offers you the perfect amenities!

    The afternoon will be delicious. With a professional cook and other guests you will take part in an entertaining and tropical cooking experience. Learn everything about the local cuisine, the typical ingredients, about grilling and cocktails! During the preparation of your dinner you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the volcano Arenal with a pinch of "Pura Vida" atmosphere. The cooking class is suitable for beginners as well as for ambitious chefs. Classes take place at the restaurant La Casa Rústica at the foot of the Arenal volcano and are included in the price. Participation is of course voluntary.

  • Day 5: Arenal

    Breakfast in the hotel.

    Today you will visit the EcoCentro Danaus, a native village where the Maleku community performs and exhibits their handicrafts. The Maleku or Guatusos is one of the smallest indigenous groups in Costa Rica. They speak Spanish and their dialect Maleku. Their main agricultural activity is the cultivation of cocoa, peach palms and palm trees and also river fishing. They craft indigenous figures from balsa wood as well as their bows and arrows for hunting and fishing. Of course you can also buy these hand made pieces if you are interested. A visit to the cultural centre is already included in the price of the trip.

  • Day 6: Arenal – Monteverde

    Breakfast in the hotel. After checking out you drive along the "Laguna Arenal", the largest lake in Costa Rica, to your next destination: Monteverde Lodge & Gardens.

    This rustic but elegant lodge is located in the magical Cloud Forest of Monteverde, the largest in Costa Rica.

    The Biological Reserve of Monteverde is an area in the mountainous northwest of Costa Rica and is known for its cloud forest and its numerous protected wildlife species, including the jaguar, the ocelot and the colorful feathered quetzal. The reserve's marked trails run through the cloud forest past over 2,500 different plant species, including over 400 different species of orchids. Many high suspension bridges offer a view over the crowns of the forest.

  • Day 7: Monteverde

    Today we have already included the "Don Juan Coffee Tour". This excursion offers the opportunity to gain deep insights into the history, cultivation and operation of a functioning coffee business ("Beneficio"). The coffee in Costa Rica has a biog importance and is the fourth largest source of income of the country. And the folklore of Costa Rica is not neglected either here.

  • Day 8: Monteverde - Rincón de la Vieja

    After checking out you will continue your journey to Borinquen Mountain Resort & Spa. This exclusive hotel is located in the beautiful town of Guanacaste in the northwestern region of Costa Rica, right next to the Rincón de la Vieja National Park.

    This national park is the least visited national park, was founded in 1973 to protect the water supply. It includes the mountain range with the volcano Rincón de la Vieja and extends over 14,000 hectares. There are the many different hiking trails with varied tour lengths for example to the volcano craters or to the mud volcano, to the waterfalls La Cangreja and other sights.

    Approx. 3 hours drive for a distance of approx. 150 km.

  • Day 9: Rincon de la Vieja

    Breakfast in the hotel.

    This day you can spend as you wish. There are optional excursions and tours such as hiking in the National Park Rincón de la Vieja, horseback riding, ziplining, rafting and much more.

    Or you can take this opportunity and unwind in this beautiful landscape. Spa & Relax as well as a large pool offer an ideal atmosphere for relaxation.

  • Day 10: Rincon de la Vieja - Nicoya Peninsula

    Breakfast in the hotel.

    After check out you head for the Nicoya Peninsula. On the way you have the opportunity to stop at one of the perfect beaches. We recommend a boat trip to the "Isla Tortuga". During the crossing you can, with a little luck, meet dolphins, whales and other sea dwellers.

    In the evening check in at the Tango Mar Beach Hotel Golf & Spa. This hotel, beautifully situated on the long, shallow beach lined with coconut trees, enchants its guests with a unique atmosphere, its own pleasant microclimate and year-round ideal climatic conditions. Here nature awaits in abundance on the dreamlike lonely beaches. The resort's very well maintained 9-hole Executive Golf Course (Par 3 & 4) is situated over the cliffs of the sea and offers you a great tee shot in tropical surroundings with palm trees and exotic birds.

  • Day 10 to Day 14 - Nicoya Peninsula

    Dinner and Breakfast at Tango Mar Beach Hotel Golf & Spa included in a Tropical Suite with Jacuzzi.

    Enjoy the beach, go snorkeling, fishing, horseback riding or play golf in this unique setting. Of course, you can also continue your excursions by car.

  • Day 15: Nicoya Peninsula - San José

    Breakfast in the hotel.

    Check out at the hotel and drive to San José back to the Hotel Grano de Oro.

    If you did not have the opportunity to explore San Jose on arrival, we recommend that you do so on your return journey. Otherwise, we recommend that you leave early and take your time on the return journey. Stop again and again at beautiful places and enjoy the day! In the course of the afternoon (according to the agreed time / in the lobby), return the rental car.

    Stay at the Hotel Grano de Oro.

    Approx. 5.5 hours driving time for a distance of about 300km.

  • Day 16 -San José - departure

    Breakfast in the hotel.

    Check out and meeting on the agreed time with your driver who will take you with a private transfer to San José Airport. This is where your trip ends
